Likely to become pregnant during lactation

There are many myths about the possibilities of getting pregnant while you are breastfeeding. Many say there is no possibility to conceive at this time, while others do not have the security of having sex during that time. So here I bring what experts say and some recommendations.

The answer to the question of whether you can get pregnant during breastfeeding is: yes. In general, it is less fertile but not infertile at that time. Although you may not get your period for months after giving birth, your body usually releases its first egg before it reaches the period.

So if you do not want to get pregnant while breastfeeding, you should start using a contraceptive method as soon as you start having sex again. Many doctors recommend using barrier methods like condoms or a diaphragm, but some think that the new oral contraceptives are safe to use during lactation without the baby in any way.

If you are giving breast to your baby exclusively, day and night, you may not menstruate again for one year after giving birth. If your baby sleeps through the night is still young, your period may become faster, usually between three and eight months.
